Book of the Week - It's Hard Out Here for a Duke by Maya Rodale

This delightful Regency era story features an unlikely duke, American James Cavendish, who, along with his three sisters, reluctantly has gone to England to claim his title after being surprised by discovering he is the heir. In an inn on his last day of being a common American he meets an enticing woman and experiences a night of passion before she disappears. He has no interest in being an idle peer and hopes to return to breeding exceptional horses. Upon arriving at the ducal estate he discover his mystery woman is companion to the dowager duchess and that being a duke can be more demanding and important than he expected as well as being unexpectedly fulfilling.

While this is 4th in the
Keeping up with the Cavendishes series, it works well on its own and has now added Maya Rodale to my list of authors to follow.

Book of the Week - A Duke in Shining Armor by Loretta Chase

On her wedding day, bluestocking spinster Lady Olympia Hightower is quite nervous to be marrying Ashmont, one of of the three libertine dukes known collectively as "Their Dis-Graces. Fortified with brandy laced tea, then brandy on its own, Olympia gives in to her misgivings and bolts. Ripley, having been put in charge of wedding details for his fellow duke, takes off to chase the runaway bride and they end up going places they never expected. Enjoyable, smart characters make this late Regency era romance an enticing read.
