Anderson, Laurie Halse Twisted Viking 2007 Tyler is an ugly duckling: Once a geek and loser, but now a ripped "Bad" guy due to "The Foul Deed". But his reputation follows him places he didn't go, and soon he is knee-deep in the law about a few scandalous internet photos involving his long-time crush, the popular Bethany. Although it reflects Speak in some aspects, in definetly stands on its own two feet. It wasn't particulary astounding, but still a fun read. Good for reluctant readers. Nominate? No. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Rachael, 17 Bush, Jenna Ana's Story a Journey of Hope This was an ok book. It was a really quick read and I think people will generally enjoy it. This book is about Ana, a girl whose mom passed HIV to her when she was born. It tells how she copes with the disease and is quite inspiring. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Deseray, 18 Airhead, like most of Meg Cabot's books, is an entertaining, if fluffy, read. Basically, your regular average joe teenage girl has a nearer to death experience than usual... and wakes up in a supermodel's body. Creepy, huh? Suprisingly 'Nikki' manages to hold it together, and chaos, hysteria, and drama ensue. Comfortable fluff, subtiable for just about everyone, and a quick, fun read. Nominate? No. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Alice, 14 Dobkin, Bonnie Neptunes Children Walker, 2008 A biological virus has been enginered to kill withing a few hours so no one will survive. Unforchantly the virius mutates faster than anyone expects so the antidotes don't work. Another unexpected side effect is that all the children survive. This book is an exelent book that has an exelent storyline. I think most people should read it. Nominate? No. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Tyle,r 15 Franzini, Michael One Hundred Young Americans personally i really like this book because a lot of the teen agers that i read about are seriousely just like me. i read this story of a young man that attempted suicide. he said that life was just to tough to live with. i have had those thoughts before. Nominate? Yes. 5Q Hard to imagine a better book. 5P Everyone wants to read it. anika, 17 Gilman, David The Devil's Breath Delacorte 2008 - September The Devil's Breath is a action packed book that is about teenage max gordon life after someone tries to have him assassinated. The book is completely filled with fight scenes and high speed car pursuits. Unfortunately it sacrifices the plot for the action, the plot was easy enough to follow but the other just wasn't good at keeping you interested in the parts were they started figuring out stuff. So for action the Devils Breath was a good book, for plot not so much. Nominate? No. 3Q Readable. 3P Some Teen appeal. Brady, 12 Haydon, Elizabeth The Dragon’s Lair Tor: Starscape 2008 i liked this book alot i could not put it down even though i have yet to read the first two which i wish to read when i can find them. The Haunting of Julia Stone Arch 2007 this book is a nice light read for kids at the age of ten and under it has a great finding of what one things is that turns into another. it has some great illistrations Nominate? No. 3Q Readable. 2P Only for special interest. kaylyn, 14 Jordan, Sherryl Time of the Eagle HarperCollins 2007 Sherryl Jordan has captured all of the essential pieces of a great book and put them together in an absolutely amazing book, that caught and held my attention within the first few pages. I would definitely recommend Time of the Eagle to anyone with the slightest interests in books. Nominate? Yes. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Morgan, 15 Meehl, Brian Suck It Up Delacorte, 2008 A wonderfully different vampire story. I couldn't put this book down. I loved how vampires wanted to come out into the open verses hiding. It caractorizes the hope that vampires can be good in an inovatived way. Definately a book for those who don't like to read. Please save House of Night 4 for me. Nominate? Yes. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Allyson, 17 Meyer, Stephenie Breaking Dawn Her best and worst all at the same time. I think she developed Bella more as a person but some elements sounded very much like fanfiction. I also think she delved more into the other characters and developed them to be more realistic and you could tell what they were thinking. However her imagery could have been better, compared to her other books it was weak. Overall though it was a good story. Nominate? Yes. 4Q Better than most. 5P Everyone wants to read it. Allyson, 17 Miller, Kristen The Empress's Tomb What do you get when you combine an underground city, six foot squirrels, a hidden tomb, a haunted mansion and Chinatown crime lords? The latest Kiki Strike novel. Though a sequel, this book stands perfectly well on its own. Kiki Strike, and her band of former Girl Scouts turned vigilante are back for another nail biting adventure. This is defineatly close to top of my favorite books this year. It's fast paced, exciting, and full of the twists and turns that made the first book so good. I'm hoping for the third book already. Nominate? Yes. 4Q Better than most. 3P Some Teen appeal. Alice, 14 Miller, Kristen The Empress's Tomb This was an exelent book about a girl whose best friend is a princess. It has a lot of humor in it and a very unpredictable storyline. Nominate? Yes. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Tyler, 15 Pauley, Kimberly Sucks To Be Me Not very attention grabing. The title and cover are good but the story itself was to young and shallow to capture my interest. Nominate? No. 2Q Needs more work. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Allyson, 17 Peterson, Will Triskellion Candlewick Press 2008 Twin Americans Rachel and Adam are sent to a small English village to spend the summer with their grandmother. Here, where family roots and tradition meet archaeology and the paranormal, they meet up with a mysterious boy and band together to uncover the secret the citizens of Triskellion have guarded for millenia. These pages are gripping; It's a book one can't put down. The main plot is intricate and mysterious, although also occasionally disappointing. Overall, an exiting and most enjoyable must-read. Nominate? No. 4Q Better than most. 4P Broad general teen appeal. Rachael, 17 Triskillion is deffinently a fantasy but it needs more emphasis on the fantasy aspects in the book. It is about a brother and sister who go to a british town then find out they have strange powers. Nominate? No. 3Q Readable. 3P Some Teen appeal. Tyler, 15 An OK book about a girl who can turn into a bear at will. She can also contact bears with her mind. Nominate? No. 4Q Better than most. 3P Some Teen appeal. Tyler, 15
