Ash, Sarah Tracing the Shadow This book has all of the aspects of a good book however because it is extremely complex and sets the stage many teens will either loose interest or get so lost in the politics that they can't read it. The story follows too people that are closely linked although they do not know it. They both get involved in very complex politics that force them to do various things, weather they want to or not. I would definitely recommend this book to any who can keep track of many characters at one time. Nominate? yes. 4Q. 3P. Tyler, 15 I think this book is good and it’s got really good pictures of the different types of moons in different places. It’s got really good info. about the different types of moons too. The moons are very colorful in the book too. Nominate? no. 3Q. 3P. Aouipoz Dbxtpo, 14 Dekker, Ted Chosen Thomas Nelson Publishers 2008 - January This book quenched my thirst for a book of fantasy and action. I am glad to have read this book and would gladly nominate this book for an award. Nominate? yes 4Q 4P Hsfh Npobtu, 16 Cornish, D.M. Lamplighter G. P. Putnam's Sons 2008 - April The 2nd book in the Monster Blood Tattoo series, Lamplighter is just as good as the 1st, with wonderful new characters and vivid descriptions. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the author decided to write a semi-cliffhanger for the ending of the book. Nominate? yes 5Q 4P Andrea, 14 Doctorow, Cory Little Brother. Tor Little Bother is about a 17 year old kid who is a really good hacker. When his friends and him are caught in the wrong place during a terrorist attack they are taken into custody by DHS aka the Department of Home Security. He is tortured mercilessly for a until they let him go. When Marcus returns to the outside world he finds that DHS have created a world where everybody is treated like a potential terrorist. Marcus knows nobody will believe that he was tortured so he vows to bring down the DHS. Nominate? Yes. 4Q Better than most. 3P Some Teen appeal. --Brady, 12 This book goes on my top 5 list. It's about a 17 year old hacker who is illegally detained by the department of homeland security (DHS) because he is the suspect of a terrorist attack sometime around 2015. When he is finally released he finds that the united states has been turned into a dictatorship instead of a democracy. To get his rights back the boy decides to take down the DHS. I loved this book because it describes the hacks used and makes an awesome political statement without hurting the storyline. If you like adventure, si-fi, or hacking the school computers this book is for you. Nominate? yes 5Q 4P Tyler, 15 Duval, Alex Vampire Beach Simon & Schuster 2006 I really like this book because of how the writer wrote about vampires living with normal people. How they found out and the relationships. This is an romantic and intense book. Nominate? yes 3Q. 4P. Kattia, 18 Friedman, Aimee and Christine Norrie Breaking Up Scholastic 2007 A very interesting graphic novel about four friends in high school that get apart for different reason, they tried to became friends again. They are best friends forever. I love this graphic novel. I love of course the graphs, awesome work. Nominate? yes 5Q. 5P. Kattia, 18 Gray, Claudia Evernight HarperCollins i liked this book is up there with marked and betrayed it was very exciting to read,i hope to read more books like this. Nominate? yes 5Q. 4P. Kelly 17 Hooper, Mary Newes from the Dead Roaring Brook 2008 - May Based on the true case of the hanging of Anne Green in 1650. Anne Green had a child out of wedlock with the master of the house's grandson, except she miscarried. She was wrongly accused of infanticide and was hanged. Corpses of criminals in those times were given to scientists to dissect, so we then switch to the POV of a shy 18 year old boy Robert getting ready to take notes on the dissection of Anne. Except... did he just see her eyelids flutter? We switch throughout the book from the boy's POV to Anne's memories of how she was seduced. I didn't like how many of Anne's memories there were. I would've been content with a very brief summary of how she got on the dissection table. I wanted to know whether or not she could be revived or not, and if people would allow her to be revived. Otherwise, I enjoyed it very much. Nominate? yes. 4Q. 4P. Andrea, 14 Jones, Patrick Chasing Tail Lights Walker & Company 2007 This book is a heart-to-heart, feeling oriented book. While reading this novel, I was reluctant to put it down. The meaning of “friendship in negative circumstances” is really expressed in this story. A person who struggles through life because of their past, has my recommendation to read this novel. It’s hard to imagine a more empathetic book. Nominate? yes. 4Q. 4P. Gsfh Npmbtu 16 Kinney, Jeff Diary of a Wimpy Kid Amulet Books I love Diary of a Wimpy Kid! It is a great book for all ages and great for times when you just want to have fun and not think! You have pictures to help explain the story but it isn't like in kindergarden, but they are for fun and funny purposes. I can't wait to read the sequel! Nominate? yes. 5Q. 5P. Kissondra, 14 Lyons, Mary E. Letters from a Slave Boy-The Story of Joseph Jacobs Simon & Schuster 2007 This book is based on the real life stories about a slave boy named Joseph Jacobs. I not only enjoyed reading about his life, but I also learned a lot of history. The time is set between the years 1839-1860. Joseph talkes about the troubles that occur for his race, and the fright of getting caught for being a run-away slave. I would definitly recommend this book to anyone. You will learn many things and relate to the character from start to finish. Before I read this book I had never heard of Joseph Jacobs before. This book has definitly broadened my perspective on slavery and many other historical events. Nominate? yes. 4Q. 4P. Valerie 16 Qamar, Amjed Beneath My Mother's Feet Simon & Schuster 2008 - June This book seemed to be only half done, and that really annoys me. I know that the author's probably just setting it up for a sequel, but we learn how the main character's life becomes horrible, and then we find out she MIGHT be able to make it good. The end. If a sequel does come out I won't read it because the author gets on my nerves, not only with not finishing books, but her writing style is very strange. An okay book to read if all other literature has disappeared. Nominate? no. 2Q 3P. Andrea, 14 Reisman, Michael Simon Bloom, The Gravity Keeper Dutton 2008 - February This book gives an exciting and fast-paced, page-turning story. It is a good imaginative tale. Nominata? yes. 3Q. 4P. --Hsfh Npobtu, 16 Stahler, David Jr. Otherspace Eos. 2008 Otherspace by is an excellent science fiction. I found the begging a little boring and the book a little short. You do not need to have read the first two in the trilogy (I didn't) to understand and love this book. I like how the author did foreshadowing through the main characters visions. I would recommend this book to any teen that likes adventure or science fiction. Nominate? yes. 4Q. 4P. --Tyler, 15. Walden, Mark H.I.V.E.: The Overlord Protocol Simon & Schuster 2008 - January This book gives a modern day view of electronics in the hands of 13 year old Super villain is on the verge of a masterpiece, much like Harry Potter.
