The cover was quite interesting but a little frightening in a good way. Dragons, maidens, prophecy, what more could you want in a book. The most compelling aspect was the death of ???? One girl trying to save the dragons. The two deaths are jsut so emotional that it opens eyes ??? of the two different worlds. |

This was a very fast paced book, but in these short pages, it said alot for the characters (who were varied in quality) and the ingenuity of the author who wrote it. The whole slippers thing was very creative and I for one loved all of the twists and turns that the plot took. Also, I thought the ending was very fitting and sort of the Happily Ever After thing that happens alot although I thought that it worked out GREAT!! |

Jessica Day George makes a charming debut into the world of YA fantasy with her novel DRAGON SLIPPERS. Set in the kingdom of Faravel, Creelisel Carlsbrun beings this witty book with the sentence : It was my aunt's idea to give me to the dragon. Naturally, things go downhill from there. However, Creel ends up getting herself mixed up with some princes, an evil princess, dragons of all sizes and colors, a horrid pink dress, a worse dress with satin roses on it, and an evil plot to take over the kingdom.
DRAGON SLIPPERS is a book with a funny, witty, strong heroine who has a refreshing voice. George has created a character that will go in with the likes of Pierce's Sandry, Meyer's Bella, and Homer's Penelope as a lovable heroine.
The story may seem to be cliche for a time here or there, but it twists itself into strange and exciting patterns. The ending leaves a little to be desired, but on the plus side it points to a sequel (I don't really know how she did it, because three pages before I was bemoaning that she had tied up all the looses ends and there would be no sequel).
In closing, DRAGON SLIPPERS is an engenious debut novel that is classic fantasy at its best and most refreshing. Sure to be an instant hit with fans of Harry Potter, Eragon, and other such fantasy novels.

I would like this book. Either a galley or hardcover copy, or the one with the rubber band around it because the spine is all sliced.

I can t believe that this is Jessica George s first book! This burgeoning new author is full of promise, and with this amazing first novel I can only imagine what other great stories she will produce. Dragon Slippers is a hilarious book about a girl who was given to a dragon in hopes of catching a Prince to marry her, but instead receives an interesting pair of shoes and new friends on a fabulous adventure. This book is, so far, the best fantasy that I ve read this year. The story reminds me of the style Ella Enchanted was written in, and while it s not of quite the same caliber, it holds its own charm. The main character had a gook head planted firmly on her shoulders with a self determination that I found endearing. It was a fairy tale that proved that maidens can still be strong and get what they want without being in distress, a fact that I applaud. I look forward to more stories by Ms. George. I would suggest this book to anyone who likes a good fairy tale.

Crossing the Wire is a book about a young boy who tries crossing the border to get to the USA illegally to find work so he can wire money to his family in Mexico. The book kept me on my toes. He is always on the move whether it be across mountains, desert or running from the border patrol. I recommend this book to readers who like action and well organized books. The way the book is written is like watching a movie.

If you like books where they have power and romance this is definitely a book to read. The most compelling aspect was when Aiden and ??? realize that they have gifts and they are able to change the future also when??? realizes se can make Aiden hurt or push on him. |

Who would not like a detective novel, with a fire throwing, skeleton in it? A very witty book, with wonderful characters, and great plot twists. I feel like though there has to be a sequel, because it feels rather unfinished. |

I'm a big sucker when it comes to detective novels. Add a skeleton with an awesome name and his plucky girl sidekick, and I am going to put off eating and breathing till I finish the book. The title was what first interested me. My thoughts were along the lines of, any book named "Skulduggery Pleasant" must be at least a bit good. So, I grabbed it and started reading. Though the beginning is what might be called slow, I was soon hooked. It was almost life or death, or un-death anyway, for me to know what happened next. I my self am rather sarcastic, so finding two characters with my throttled sense of humor was great fun. I can honesty say this is the funniest book I have read since my first Terry Pratchett. Long live dead skeletons! |

This has to be one of the funniest books that I have ever read! I loved how in the beginning, it was a really scary horrer book, and then suddenly, a strange guy comes up aand sais "Hi I'm Skulduggery Pleasant", and the book just gets better from there. After they meet, Stephanie and Skulduggery have to do lots of detective work and basically save the world. I would nominate this book for every award there is and it is now my second favorite book in the universe (it is second to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). |

This was a VERY interisting book. First of all, I thought it was very thoughtfull to have it set in the real past of this world, during the English France war. Secondly, I liked how different countries had differet types of dragons and the fact that there were more than one species. Also, I thought the book was kind of slow in the beginning, but it soon sped up and got MUCH better Everyone should read this!!! |

If you've read the previous 2 books in this trilogy, read it right away. If you haven't, go read the previous books. The best in the series so far, you're going to have a fantastic time reading this one. With the usual wonderfully crazy plot twists, such as betrayel within the flock, the usual mind games, and Max finally meeting her mom, you're gonna have a hard time trying to do your homework. |

I m not quite sure whether this is the last book in the series or not, it definitely could be, however there is still plenty more that could happen, and the main character is only 14 years old, but now I m getting ahead of myself. This book was a jolly good ride (pun intended) and a definite page turner. In the first third of the book there was a twist that is very overused, however I never saw it coming. This story is once again about the flying children with their fearless leader Max who are still trying to save the world. The third book of the series is filled to brimming with action, humor, and plot twists that easily keep a reader entertained and finished in no time craving more. While Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports isn t quite as good as the first book, it too has its charm and is definitely worth reading if you are interested in the series, however, if you haven t read any of the other books yet I would suggest doing so first, because other wise you might be a little lost. The, perhaps but hopefully not, last book in this riveting series definitely held up to the high expectations on James Patterson s |

Maximum Ride: Saving the World & Other Extreme Sports
|

The original Maximum Ride was a sci-fi thriller that popularized the genre in the main YA group, and skyrocketed James Patterson to fame as the only writer to have #1 bestsellers on children's and adult lists at the same time.
Sadly, the second in stallment of this series was lacking. Call is middle-trilogy-syndrome. However, with SAVING THE WORLD AND OTHER EXTREME SPORTS, Patterson has made a large comeback and shown the YA world that Max is still a kick-butt read.
In this third installment, Max and the flock are still on their mission to discover the secrets of Itex, the corporation that owns the School that inserted avian DNA into them as infants. On the way there are plenty of laughs and tears. The characters are fresh as ever.
One of the things that did irk me, though, was that Fang has started a blog that plays an important part of the story. That in itself is fine, but the book tells you the address (maximumride.blogspot.com), which is weird, because Fang wouldn't make a blog with his sister's name. Anyway, I digress.
While the ending if satisfactorily explosive, it seems that Patterson could have added two hundred more pages to bring this volume up to the length of its predecessors and in the process had both more character development and more exposition of the secrets that have been building for three years. As it is, there are still *many* things that are still mysteries. Is this going to lead to a sequel or companion trilogy? I don't know, but I would probably read it.
In short, Maximum Ride: SAVING THE WORLD AND OTHER EXTREME SPORTS is a worthwhile read if you've read the other two. If not, go read them and then read this one, because the series is still excellent. |

I thought this was a good book because it makes you think about how kids with homosexual parents feel. I think that a lot of people should learn how others feel about sexist behavior.

I enjoyed this book because the characters all had flaws. Most of the time, they weren't easy flaws to fix, and that's what made them so human. I thought though, that Jeremy was a bit too mature at 10 years old to be realistic. I also liked how there were illustrations by the author at the beginning of every chapter.

I thought that this book could have a very good plot line, if the writer ever made anything happen. I really liked the characters and all of the plot items, but the book steadily got worse as I read it because of the fact that the characters never DID anything! However, it was OK and the beginning was not bad at all.
