I couldn't put it down because it was suspenseful. It is such a great story. I think most people would enjoy it. QUALITY = 4, POPULARITY = 4. Sarah, age14
It was as wonderfully written as the first. The book is full of original ideas and even though it is a sequel it stands on its own. The book is wonderfully woven together with the right amounts of romance, adventure, excitement, and originality. 4P, 4Q. --Katherine, 17

Title: Skybreaker Author: Kenneth Oppel Publisher: Harper Collins
Pub Date: 2006
Skybreaker, the sequel to Airborne, is a great book. I had a hard time
putting it down. I liked it because it is about kids my age trying to
do stuff on their own. I with it would have ended differently, but it
was still really good. I hope there is a third book.
I would nominate this book for an award.
I give it a 4Q for quality and a 3P for popularity.

I don’t think Patrick Jones could have written a better book. I could relate to the problems that Bret Hendrix had with everyday life. This book is full of emotion and will make you laugh and cry at times. Nailed is one of those books that once you start reading it, you can’t put it down. I would recommend this book to any teenager out there that likes to read.

This book in my opinion did an incredible job of portraying the way a young alienated boy thinks, acts, and holds relationships. It’s easy to relate to Brett and the various hardships he goes through. Many times throughout this book I saw similarities between myself and the character and remembered times I felt exactly as he did. I would definitely recommend this book to friends. It gives a valuable lesson to the troubled adolescent which many people could benefit from.

When I first began reading this book I found it to be ho hum boring; the typical story of an unhappy teenager yada yada yada. In fact I wouldn’t have picked it up let alone finish it if it wasn’t nominated for the Teen Top Ten. I’m happy that it was. This story extended beyond the usual piece of teen fiction and dealt with the hard parts of being young, but then it took it a step further and showed how to take a stand and maintain ones individuality. The writing in Nailed was nothing special, but the meaning was extraordinary. -- Katherine, 17

I enjoyed the book alot. I've been in the place where Bret was, loved a girl then she broke my heart. I loved this book. I think he hit it
right on the head of the nail. I would give this book to anyone and tell them it's a good book to read. I couldn't put it down. He stated
every point that needed to be stated. To all the people who are the freak, the outsider, or even the odd one out - read this book. I liked
it alot.
I would nominate this book for an award.
I give it a 5Q for quality and a 5P for popularity.

My review: "Nailed" was a typical teen drama-except from the boy's point of view. That alone makes it interesting to read. When the ease of the read, the wonderful main character, and problems most teens deal with but which are rarely written well are added to that, the book comes up to a wonderful book to read. Both girls and boys will enjoy reading "Nailed".

This book deals with many of the issues of being an individual vs. blindlly following a croud, what makes people beautiful, and many of hte other problems that teens face everyday, only written in a way that makes the book exciting. Not only that but the book had a wonderful extended metephore throughout the book. Another great science fiction novel by Westerfeld, and I impatiently wait for the next book.

Popularity Rating: 4 - Lots of people will want to read it. --Katherine, 17
This book is an excellent piece of science fiction that would appeal to teens because it deals with many of the issues teenagers face including identity and appearence all wrapped up in an excellently executed book. This book has the appealing characters, plot, setting and the story itself is wonderfully written. Uglies is by far a best book.

Capt. Hook
Hart Helquist
HarperCollins
This book was pretty interesting; it's nice to get another view of a villain than the one thrust upon you at a young age. It is this point of view that makes the book so good, also wonderful are the characters, which you feel you could meet on the street, and the plot, which has tons of delightful twists and turns. I really would recommend it; I could hardly put it down in the day it took me to read it. (Yep, it was that good.)

Galley Yes
My review: While this main character should be a wonderful one, with a heart of gold and a look-out for the underdog, by trying to equate him with the bad-guy figure of Capt. Hook, the character becomes incongruous. How can a villian, any villian, have a heart of gold? Some good characteristics, yes. A heart of gold, which connotates all virtues, no. If this incongruity is ignored, it is a fine book. But as the reader is constantly reminded of James' worst sides (which could not exist with his good sides), the incongruity cannot be ignored.

Captian Hook is about the character from Peter Pan except this is his story when he was a little kid. I thought it was pretty boring. There
were some words I didn't understand. On some parts of the book I could imagine the characters. I think one reason I didn't like the book is
because it was fantasy and I am not into those kind of books.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Yes
If yes, what would you say to convince him or her to read it? A quick, easy, supernatural read that , though predicatable at times, introduces the small town Oklahoma society of Nons and Goldens. Really shows the stupidity of social classification.

Describe the most compelling aspect of the book. The new hottie Derek is dating Cate, but sending mixed signals to her best friend, Lucas. Who will it be?

The main character, Abel, lives on at a freak show, one where everyone is treated eqaully and fairly be the manager. Abel's parents are human oddities, but he himself is not. One night, he runs away to join a different circus because he doesn't fit in and will never find a suitable girl for him if he stays. Apollo the dog boy comes after him and ends up getting both of them thrown out of the circus. Abel ends up joining another freak show, one where the entertainers are not treated as fairly as his home camp, one where lies are told and deception happens often. I did enjoy this book. I think that it was original and had a good plot. I loved the human oddities in this book because the all had fun and distinct personalities. The author did a good job coming up with characters. Jablonski, Carla Title Thicker Than Water
“Thicker than Water” was a tale about a teenager who was lost in her own life. Her mother was slowly dying, her father was distant, and she would cut herself with a razor (I suspect it was because that was the one thing in her life that she could control.) The main character, Kai, ends up getting involved in a dark scene, one with Goths and vampires. At first it was just a general curiosity for Kai, but soon she got involved deeper then she would have imagined and it began to creep into her everyday life and left her questioning whether magic and the imaginary is actually real.
When I first started reading this book I enjoyed it in a morbid way. I wasn’t quite sure where it was heading which made it more interesting. I was incredibly disappointed as I got farther into the book, and by the time I reached the end I thought that the ending was appropriate, but I was unsatisfied with the book. While reading the book it seems interesting, yet when I finished the book I felt as if the book had been empty without much depth. I would clarify, but sadly that would ruin the book. Carla Jablonski has an interesting tone to her writing that keeps a reader interested in the book until the very end and enfolds the reader into the story. How ever disappointed I was by the story, I must give the writer her props. She constructed a story that was difficult to put down and led the reader to question when fantasy becomes reality. --Kathrine, age 17.

Meet Kia, a teenager struggling to come to terms with her mother's cancer, adjusting to living with her father, re-examiningher friends, and, to top it off, fighting the urge to cut (tracing thin lines into her skin with a razor to relieve stress). Her character was raw and real, great writing. As she enters the underground vampire party scene, she , and the reader, begin to wonder where the boundaries between gothic dress-up and reality begin. Sometimes, novels, though enjoyable, do become predictable. This, however, had a great twist ending that readers will not see coming. A great vampire story featuring a great main character and a story that seduces the reader to the very end. --Kara, 17

Top 10, because it's a good mix of so many day-to-day experiences into a

amazing job for his first time in publishing a book for young adults. I

California and visit Ensenada, Baja, CA and Mexico. The author
describes the scenery so well that it made me homesick. I bet this book
would really sell in Cali. Good luck and good job Jack Lopez!

Title Singing Hands
Author Delia Ray
Publisher Clarion Books
Publication date 2006
Galley Yes
My review: Singing Hands was one of the better historical fiction books I've ever read. I've never read many books about the deaf, so I learned a lot from this book without it being to much like a history book. I loved the mystery of Miss Grace, and how the ending was left rather... unfinished. Ms. Ray is admitting to what most author's won't. That no ending is really an ending. It's just another beginning.
